A teacher in a public school in the Northern Governorate allegedly pushed a 12-year-old student towards the wall and left him bleeding for three hours.

To make matters worse, student Ammar, allegedly did not get any medical attention from the school and his parents were not informed by the authorities concerned about the incident.

According to Ammar’s father, who spoke to DT News on condition of anonymity, the incident occurred in a school in Hamad Town last Wednesday, when Ammar and another student were involved in a brawl.

“At around 11am, the teacher broke the fight between the two boys and pushed my son hard towards the wall, which left him with a head injury. I received a call at 2pm from another teacher who told me that my son was accidently injured and that he was treated at the school,” said the furious father.

He said that the teacher who called him did not reveal his identity, though he informed him about the name of the teacher, who supposedly caused his son’s injury.

“I left my workplace and rushed to the school, where I found Ammar standing outside and bleeding because of his head injury. It was after school hours and no teachers were around,” Ammar’s father said.

He took his son to a private clinic nearby, where Ammar’s head was stitched.

“After finishing with Ammar’s treatment, I immediately drove to the nearest police station and filed a complaint against the teacher and the school,” he said.

After filing the complaint, Ammar and his father were summoned by Social Development Ministry’s Child Protection Centre, which launched a probe into the incident.

Apparently, the school principal denied the incident at first, stating that he doesn’t know about such occurrence in the school.

The father added, “Such things shouldn’t happen in schools and our children shouldn’t be treated with such behaviour. My son is in a bad psychological state. He refuses to attend the same teacher’s classes. I demand an immediate action from the Education Ministry regarding my son’s case.”
