Abu Dhabi: Residents have been mourning the passing of the American teacher who was tragically stabbed to death at a mall in the capital last Monday.

Dozens of shocked and saddened families have been gathering at the Boutik Mall on Abu Dhabi’s Reem Island, where public schoolteacher Ibolya Ryan, 47, was stabbed to death. Following a vigil held at the shopping centre on Friday evening, candles continue to be lit on Sunday and flowers placed outside the mall toilet where the incident took place.

Meanwhile, police investigations into the murder continue, as the prime suspect, a 38-year-old Emirati woman, remains in police custody, an official source toldGulf News.

“Contrary to some rumours circulating, the suspect is not married to any of the men who have recently been tried by the UAE State Security Court for involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood,” he said.
