More than 20 flights scheduled to land at Kuwait International Airport were diverted on Monday morning due to thick fog, officials have said.

Air traffic at Kuwait International Airport resumed to normal at 7:45am local-time after fog temporarily brought airport operations to a standstill, news agency KUNA reported.

Six flights were delayed while 21 others were diverted to neighbouring airports, according to Saleh Al Fadagi, head of operations at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Kuwait.

It is the latest Gulf airport to have disruptions due to fog this month after Abu Dhabi International Airport was forced to divert many flights.

The airport reported disruptions on January 8, January 3 and December 29.
