The 166th Millennium Millionaire Draw in Dubai Duty Free Tuesday, May 27, 2014 The Millennium Millionaire was conducted by Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman and Nic Bruwer, Vice President – Human Resources Filipino national Mr. Erwin Belano won a prize of a lifetime as Dubai Duty Free drew his ticket no. 0145 for US$1million in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire Promotion, Series no. 166 earlier this morning (Tuesday). The forty-three-year old lucky ticket holder from Albay, Philippines couldn’t believe his luck and was understandably ecstatic when he realised that he has just become a dollar millionaire. On being notified of the news, an emotional Mr. Belano said: “It is absolutely amazing! This will certainly change my life and I am delighted to call myself a lucky person. My win makes me feel more secure and I will definitely spend it wisely”.

Mr. Belano is the fifth Filipino national to win the US$1 million in the Millennium Millionaire Promotion since its inception in 1999. The Millennium Millionaire Promotion approaches its 15th Anniversary in June 2014 and todate, has created 166 Dollar Millionaires from 29 countries. The Finest Surprise draw was conducted by Dubai Duty Free senior officials namely Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman, Sean Staunton, Vice President – Operations and Michael Schmidt – Manager – Retail Sales.

Following the Millennium Millionaire, Dubai Duty Free conducted the Finest Surprise draw announcing two winners of the luxury vehicles. Mr. Aref Machaka, a Lebanese national living in Saudi Arabia won a Porsche Panamera 4 in Series no. 1566 with ticket no. 0815. Aref’s family is no stranger to winning with Dubai Duty Free as six years back in 2007 his mother, Samar Kassar Machaka won a BMW750Li in Series no. 1314 with ticket no. 0880. “We are extremely lucky with Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise draws and my family and I are thrilled to have won for the second time! I would like to thank Dubai Duty Free for such a great surprise!” commented Mr. Machaka by phone. Another winner announced today was Mr. Joseph Bombara, an American national from Gainesville, USA who won a Ducati Superbike 899 Panigale in Series no. 234 with ticket no. 0588.
