Rolex theft trial ruling tomorrow

The men have been accused of stealing approximately 80 watches worth around BD527,870 from the Rolex shop in Bahrain City Centre last September.

Two of them, who are in police custody, allegedly helped conceal and transport the stolen goods out of the country.

Both men, American and Turkish citizens, were arrested on October 1 following a raid on their Manama apartment, from where officers allegedly confiscated some of the watches.

They earlier pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The other six suspects – two Kosovans, two Albanians, a Serbian and a Macedonian – were said to have fled the country just two hours after the heist.

They dressed up as Arab women in abayas and hijabs before breaking into the shop, attacking a Pakistani security guard and planting fake bombs to aid their escape.

All six suspects have been arrested overseas with the help of Interpol and are awaiting extradition to Bahrain.

Forensic experts earlier told judges that a DNA test proved that one of the Kosovan’s was at the scene.
