His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa has today donated BD500,000 to the fundraising in support of flood-hit people in the aftermath of three-day downpour which lashed the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The royal initiative doubled the overall donations collected on the first day of the fundraising campaign, which was launched by the National Committee in charge of aiding affected people.

Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) board of trustees’ chairman His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa announced the royal lifeline on Bahrain TV 08:00-AM news bulletin. HH Shaikh Nasser paid tribute to HM the King, also RCO Honorary President, commending the royal initiative.

“On behalf of all Bahrainis, I am deeply honoured to extend thanks to HM the King on this generous contribution which reflects the osmosis between the leadership and people in our beloved kingdom”, he said .

He lauded HM the King’s constant keenness on reaching out to his people and gauging their needs in all circumstances, thus setting a model for all to emulate. RCO secretary-general Dr. Mustapha Al-Sayyed also paid tribute to HM the King, described the royal initiative as a lesson from a wise leader to foster philanthropic drive among his people.

Dr. Al-Sayyed also expressed thanks and appreciation to HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, lauding his active participation and generous contribution to the “Solidary Bahrain” fundraising telethon.

He also paid tribute to companies, banks and individuals for their positive response and generous donations. He announced that the fundraising would continue for two weeks to give the opportunity to all those desiring to contribute to the campaign and extend a lifeline to flood-hit people.
