Five die in horror crash

Five people were killed and more than 50 others injured in a horrific crash in Kuwait yesterday.

A bus carrying pilgrims from Bahrain to Karbala, Iraq was reportedly overtaken by a water tanker causing the coach to crash into a pick-up and a truck carrying concrete blocks.

Four of the dead were Bahrainis, the Foreign Ministry confirmed late last night.

The GDN was able to identify at least two of the deceased as Bahrainis Maitham Abdulla, 29, and Moosa Jaafar Ahmed Al Asfoor, 24.

Mr Abdulla, who was the owner and driver of the bus, died on impact, while Mr Asfoor died in the intensive care unit of Al Jahra Hospital.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa directed the Health and Foreign ministries and the Bahraini embassy in Kuwait to make arrangements to bring home the bodies of the dead. He also directed that the injured be transferred to Bahrain to receive treatment.
