A TOP Bahraini student has travelled to New Zealand to collect an international logistics award.
Bahrain Polytechnic logistics management undergraduate Aysha Abdulla Abdulkarim was awarded the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) New Zealand award for best undergraduate level project on a logistics and transport topic.
She took 14 weeks to complete her project while undergoing an internship with DHL Bahrain, and travelled to New Zealand to collect her award under sponsorship of the Board of Trustees of Bahrain Polytechnic.
Polytechnic logistics project manager John Webb said Ms Abdulkarim delivered a concise, informative and exceptionally well-planned project.
“I believe this is a great achievement for Ms Abdulkarim, as well as the Bahrain Polytechnic staff, as one of our students has won an annual international academic award, competing with other students from New Zealand,” he said.
“She was dedicated and efficient. Her excellent communication skills were critical in producing this project, as she had to do it in a second language.”
Ms Abdulkarim said she was very proud to be the first-ever Bahraini to win the CILT award and to represent her country on the international stage.
“I take this opportunity to urge other Bahrain Polytechnic students to work hard and pay extra effort in their project and assignments in order to reach the level that will make their work eligible for these international competitions,” she said.
CILT is a professional body that represents the transport and logistics industry, with more than 30,000 members in over 30 countries
