What does Bahrain mean and where did the name originate from?

Answer #1

Bahrain literally means “Two Seas” and there are two explanations for the name, firstly is because it’s an island so it is surrounded by “two seas”, but the most likely origin is that there used to be sweet water geysers in the bottom of the sea where pearl divers would dive and gather drinking waters from these underwater wells.

Unfortunately these geysers dried up due to over comsumption and land reclamation
