Bahrain water garden to bloom again

2015
Salmaniya Water Park (also called Salmaniya Water Garden) is heading towards a major revamp and will soon become an ideal place for recreational activities, if everything goes according to plan.
According to official sources from Manama Municipality, the park will be expanded to include varied facilities for the visitors.
The proposed plan includes a playing ground for kids, small traditional souq, a space for meditation and more seating areas inside the park.
“Playground for kids is one of the major plans, for there is a huge demand for the play space. We’re planning to make the area similar to that of Andalus Garden, Gudaibiya,” said Ahmed Showaiter, Head of Gardens and Parks attached to Manama Municipality.
The official also added that the project would be implemented within 2015-2016.
The lightings installed inside the compound of the water park will also be replaced with new ones. Moreover, the increased seating area and meditation spots will be the highlight of the 47-year-old theme park after the facelift.
“Small traditional souqs and more seating space will attract the families. Andalus Garden is successful because of the regular footfalls and we expect the same here,” said Mr. Showaiter to DT News.
He also added that the park would be partly closed during the renovation activities.
Earlier, while speaking to DT News, Manama General Secretariat Chairman Mohammed Ali Ahmed Al Khuzai also said that the facelift of Salmaniya Water Park is one among the priorities of the Capital Governorate.
