A CROCODILE spotted wandering in Bu Qowa has been taken to Al Areen Wildlife Park.

It was caught by two residents, who were immediately contacted by park officials to arrange the animal’s transfer.

Al Areen deputy general co-ordinator Dr Adel Al Awadhi yesterday said the crocodile will live in an isolated area near a small lake.

“We immediately called the men who caught the crocodile and told them that it has to be sheltered in the park,” he told the GDN.

“This is the first time a crocodile is kept in the park, and we will make sure we take care of it.”

Meanwhile, a Chital deer caught in Riffa is being sheltered at the Animal Welfare Centre (AWC) in Askar, which is operated by the Bahrain Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Society officials named the animal ‘Rudolph’ and conducted a full medical check-up.

“It is normal to find deer wandering around in the southern parts of the country,” added Dr Al Awadhi.

“The park will call the society as soon as possible and arrange a way to deliver the deer and make a comfortable place for him.”
