Al Arab satellite news channel will start broadcasting from Bahrain soon.

Information Affairs Minister Isa Al Hammadi hailed the upcoming launch as ‘a value-added outlet for pan-Arab media’.

‘The launch of the Bahrain-based channel builds on landmark achievements of His Majesty,’ he said as he visited the channel headquarters at the Bahrain World Trade Centre.

He said the launch of the news outlet would bolster Bahrain’s media status, help attract leading international enterprises, woo investments, generate jobs and hone the skills of national media staff.

He thanked Kingdom Holding Company chairman and owner of Al Arab news TV Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for choosing Bahrain in recognition of its media openness, transparency, democratic strides, technical know-how and human potential.

The minister met Al Arab TV general manager Jamal Khashoggi and human and administrative affairs executive director Sultana Al Ruwaili and discussed media co-operation.

He toured the main headquarters, including the state-of-the-art broadcasting centre, studios, control room, and technical and administrative offices.
